NVTV – Xochiquetza Trinidad (Aztec) and Adam Araiza (Mexica)

Cihuapilli Rose Amador and Sundust Martinez interviews Xochiqetza Trinidad (Aztec/Mexica) and Adam Araiza (Mexica) on Native Voice TV.

Trinidad and Araiza are youth, ages 10 and 11, respectively. They are now 19 and 20 years of age. Trinidad is a dancer and poet. Araiza a music performer, ‘Wrapper‘ and his stage name, ‘MG Underdog’.

Trinidad recites one of her poems inspired to honor her culture and people. MG Underdog performs three songs, ‘It’s a Family Thing’, ‘Money‘ and ‘Thank you‘.

NVTV – Roberto Romo Lopez (Omicuauhtli, Mexica)

Cihuapilli Rose Amador LeBeau interviews Roberto Romo Lopez (Omicuauhtli, Mexica) teacher of School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza on Native Voice TV.

Romo has Bachelor Degree from the University of San Francisco Academy of Arts. He is a teacher,
dancer, artist and interpreter.

Romo currently teaches two classes and mentions what each of his classes are and how it helps children (ages 5-15 years old) learn their tradition and culture, self realization and how to connect with the all age groups, especially the ‘Elders‘.

NVTV gives Romo an opportunity to show his current artwork and he explains them in detail (four art pieces). This in itself is fascinating and educational.

This interview begins with ethnology of Taíno and Mexíca, cultural genocide, revitalizing tribal language hence leading to cultural ceremonies, most spoken language – ‘Nahuatl’; and ends with a detail explanation of the ‘Azteca/Mexíca’ New Year.

Cihuapilli Rose Amador and Sundust Martinez interviews Kelly Gamboa (Apache), Program Co-ordinator American Indian Education Center (AIEC), San Jose, California
on Native Voice TV.

Gamboa gives the history of how the American Indian Education Center became into existence and now a non-profit 501.c3. She calls herself more than a program coordinator for she is person of ‘Jack of all Trades’.

The American Indian Education Center has been in existence for decades providing the K-12 students variety of educational resources (Transportation, Tutoring, Lunches, Healthcare, etc.)

The emphasis for the students is to incorporate Native Culture tradition and arts within their studies and engaging them in community involvement.

NVTV – Baeza (Mexica/Tiano) & Wolfe (Muscogee Creek Nation)

The first guess, Baeza speaks about the meaning of the Mexica New Year and its in depth explanation of the Azetec calendar. Baeza mentions what to expect by attending the 3 day celebration.

The second guess, Sampson T. Wolfe discusses the on going struggle to release a Native American Political prisoner, Leonard Peltier (Currently has spent over 39 years in prison). Wolfe mentions how Peltier’s health is degrading due to inappropriate prison healthcare.

Wolfe finally asks for the United State citizens to write to President Obama and request him to give Leonard PeltierExecutive Clemency‘ before he leaves office.
